Description: Although the republic was proclaimed in Hungary in 1989, the new coat of arms was not decided until 1990. In the intervening half year, the mint continued to operate using the legally official elements. As a result, the Kádár coat of arms can still be seen under the inscription of the republic on the coins of the circulation series minted in 1990. Only 10,000 pieces of the special mint were made.
