Description: At the beginning of the 1550s, a new and strong currency appeared in Hungary, the silver thaler. Due to its high silver content, the stable thaler has been minted in several denominations over the centuries. The largest in Hungary is II. It was a five-fold thaler issued by our King Matthias. The 5 thaler made in 1610 in Körmöcbány weighed nearly 140 g! The now extremely rare coin is a real special feature of monetary history. (source: Erem Art Institute certificate)
