Description: | III. Ferdinand 10 ducats 1642 reprint III. Ferdinand was born into the Thirty Years' War, the Counter-Reformation. He ended the European war with the Peace of Westphalia and preached partial religious tolerance against his father's religious fanaticism. At the same time, he was an absolutist ruler, which is well exemplified by the "exiled" Hungarian coat of arms and Madonna on his gold coin. He ascended the Hungarian throne in 1637, and issued this gold giant on its fifth anniversary. |
