Description: | Kristóf Báthory 10 ducats 1577 reprint Kristóf Báthory, voivode of Transylvania, lived in the shadow of great men and princes. His brother, the Transylvanian prince István Báthory, made him voivode when he was elected king of Poland. The freedom struggle led by his wife's brother, the Transylvanian prince István Bocskai, was the only successful anti-Habsburg uprising. His son Zsigmond Báthory became the prince of Transylvania after his uncle's death. Kristóf Báthory's heavy gold coin bears his coat of arms and motto. |
