| Description: | Róbert Bárány is of Hungarian origin, Austrian and then Swedish doctor, university professor. His work was based on otology and neurology. In 1914, he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his "work on the physiology and pathology of the vestibular apparatus (balance organ)". Róbert Bárány developed the Bárány swivel chair, which is still used today, and is used during balance tests and even during pilot training. On the 100th anniversary of his Nobel Prize, the MNB issued the oval commemorative coin in silver and non-ferrous metal versions, as the third member of the Hungarian Nobel laureate series. |
