Description: | III. Ferdinand was a person who commanded authority and was tolerant of peace. He spoke seven languages and was interested in natural sciences and art. King of Hungary and Bohemia, then German-Roman Emperor after the death of his father (Ferdinánd II). He also tried to be on good terms with the Hungarians, which is why he also provided Rákóczi with the seven counties of Upper Hungary that had been handed over to the Principality of Transylvania during the time of Gábor Bethlen.
