Felső félköriratban a kutyafajta elnevezése, a „KOMONDOR” olvasható. Az emlékérmét Imrei Boglárka fémműves formatervező iparművész tervezte. Mesterjegye a füves puszta ábrázolásába rejtve, bal oldalon alul található.

Description: The Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing a HUF 2,000 non-ferrous commemorative coin named "Komondor" on World Animal Day, October 4, 2020, as the second part of the series presenting Hungarian shepherd and hunting dog breeds. The commemorative coin was designed by Imrei Boglárka, a metalwork designer and industrial artist. The Komondor, one of the best-known Hungarian shepherds, has been part of the Hungarian Collection since 2017, along with eight other native dog breeds. The Komondor came to the territory of the Carpathian Basin with our conquering ancestors. The primary purpose of keeping it was to guard and protect the territories and the flock. Thanks to his commanding appearance, his incorruptible and brave behavior, he earned the respect of herdsmen and shepherds. From the middle of the 20th century, after domestic animal husbandry, the range of activities of the komondors gradually decreased, at most their task was limited to guarding sites and industrial objects. Despite this, their character has changed almost nothing in the past centuries. In today's constantly changing natural environment, apart from the breeders, it is kept in the National Parks out of respect for tradition. With the reappearance of predators (wolves, golden jackals, lynx), their role will probably change significantly, since their use in guarding and protection is the most natural way to protect the environment. Their international distribution is significant, and they are a valued companion of man in almost all areas of the world. The "Komondor" commemorative coins are legal tender in our country, but they do not serve circulation purposes. Their primary role is to draw attention to our national values. The commemorative medal series represents the versatility and excellent qualities of Hungarian shepherd and hunting dog breeds. Source: MNB
