Obverse: | Az emlékérme előoldalán egy magyar agár látható félprofilból ábrázolva. Az előoldal központi motívuma megragadja a kutyafajta jellegzetességeit, jellemét: heves és rendkívül kitartó, céltudatos természetét, mely óriási lélekjelenléttel párosul. Erő és elegancia sugárzik belőle. Az előlapon láthatóak a pénzérmék kötelező alaki elemei is: felső félköriratban a „MAGYARORSZÁG” felirat, jobb oldalon 2 egymás alatti sorban a „BP.” verdejel és a „2021”-as verési évszám, alul szintén két sorba törve a „2000 FORINT” értékjelzés. |
Reverse: | Az emlékérme hátlapján két magyar agár ábrázolása látható, amint vadászat közben füves pusztán hajtják a vadat. Felső félköriratban a „MAGYAR AGÁR” felirat olvasható, lent, jobb oldalon – a füves puszta ábrázolásába illesztve – az emlékérmét tervező Imrei Boglárka fémműves formatervező iparművész mesterjegye látható. |

Description: | The Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing a HUF 2,000 non-ferrous commemorative coin named "Hungarian Greyhound" on World Animal Day, October 4, 2021, as the third member of the series presenting Hungarian shepherd and hunting dog breeds. The commemorative coin was designed by Imrei Boglárka, a metalwork designer and industrial artist. In 2004, the Parliament declared all domestic dog breeds, including the Hungarian greyhound, a national treasure. In 2017, the Hungarian greyhound was added to the Hungarian Hound Collection together with eight other native dog breeds. The Hungarian greyhound is one of the oldest hunting dogs, which, unlike other breeds of hunting dogs, does not rely on its sense of smell, but on its eyes. Our ancestors also had greyhounds, which they brought with them to the Carpathian basin during their migration. This is where our current Hungarian greyhound breed later developed, as a result of long, more or less purposeful breeding. At first, the use of the Hungarian greyhound was aimed exclusively at hunting, later it was supplemented with racing in pairs, and then it became increasingly popular to run them in track competitions, after artificial rabbits. The body structure and appearance of the Hungarian greyhound clearly show that its task is to chase and occasionally bring down game. Its fiery, intense and persistent character contributes to successful hunting. Its nature - similar to its external appearance - is elegant. Extremely sensible and intelligent, affectionate breed. Due to its calm character, it is also ideal as a therapy dog. The "Hungarian Greyhound" commemorative coin is the legal tender of our country, but it is not used for circulation purposes. Its primary role is to draw attention to our national values, as well as to spread knowledge. The use of commemorative coins in everyday payment transactions should be avoided. The nominal value on them serves to preserve the collector's value of these coins. The pieces of the commemorative medal series represent the versatility and excellent qualities of Hungarian shepherd and hunting dog breeds. Source: MNB |
