Pedro I 's life

Peter I was born in 1798 in Queluz, Portugal, IV. As the fourth child of King John of Portugal and Carlota Joaquina of Spain. In 1807, Napoleon's invasion of Portugal forced the royal family to flee to Brazil. Péter was 9 years old at the time. In 1822, after the independence of Brazil, Péter was crowned the country's first emperor. During his reign, Brazil began to develop rapidly, its economy and cultural life boomed. Péter supported the arts and sciences and founded the country's first university. In 1826, after his father's death, Péter also inherited the Portuguese throne. However, he soon abdicated the Portuguese crown in favor of his daughter, Mária da Glória, and returned to Brazil. He married three times and had a total of ten children. In 1831, as a result of a military coup, Peter was removed from the throne and exiled from Brazil. He went to Portugal, where he died in 1834.I. Pedro I Coinage

Emperor Peter I of Brazil reigned from 1822-1831, during which time he minted many new coins. The coinage system was introduced in 1822 and the first coins were made of gold and silver. The initial coins depicted the Brazilian flag and the emperor's coat of arms. In 1824, copper coins were also introduced. These coins were of lower value than gold and silver coins and were used for everyday purchases.I. During Peter's reign, the Brazilian coinage system continued to develop.
