Obverse:	Az emlékérme előlapján matt alapú mezőben az „1956” évszám ismétlődik, egymás alatti sorokban.
Reverse:	A hátlapon látható matt alapú mezőben szintén az „1956” évszám ismétlődik. A matt alapú mezőből az érmemező közepére lyukas nemzeti színű zászló ábrázolása nyúlik be. Az emlékérme szélén köriratban a „MAGYAR FORRADALOM ÉS SZABADSÁGHARC” felirat olvasható. Az érmét tervező Rónay Attila a fémlemezen kidomborodó, sorokba rendezett „1956”-os évszámokkal a szovjet diktatórikus rendszert szimbolizálta. A fémlemezből felszakadó, lyukas nemzeti színű zászló ábrázolása pedig a szabadságharcra utal.
