Description: | Transylvanian silver garas are usually 20-25 mm in diameter and weigh around 2-3 grams. One side of the coins shows the coat of arms of the Principality of Transylvania, and the other side shows the title of the ruler, i.e. the name and title of the Transylvanian prince, as well as the location and date of the mint. Transylvanian silver garas played an important role in the economic life of the time. They were used to settle contemporary debts and payment obligations, and were also often in circulation during contemporary trade. Today they have become antiques and are popular among collectors. |
