Obverse: Az „Erdős Pál” emlékérmék előlapján a matematikus munkásságára utaló elemek jelennek meg: központi motívumként a Csebisev-tételt (n és n duplája között mindig van prímszám, amennyiben n pozitív egész szám) leíró „n < p < 2n” képlet látható, amelyre a matematikus rövid és elegáns bizonyítást adott. A bizonyítással indult Erdős Pál matematikusi karrierje.
A tervező Kovács Zoltán szobrászművész mesterjegye a portré mellett jobb oldalon került elhelyezésre.

Description:

The Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) continues its series of commemorative coins, launched in 2022, featuring Hungarian Wolf Prize-winning mathematicians and their work. This time, two commemorative medals will be issued as part of the series, one honoring Pál Erdős, who won the Wolf Prize 40 years ago, and his life's work, the other will be issued on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Raoul Bott, also a Wolf Prize winner, of Hungarian-Austrian origin March 24, 2023 -I. Both commemorative coins are made in silver with a face value of HUF 7,500 and non-ferrous metal with a face value of HUF 3,000. The "Pál Erdős" commemorative coins were designed by the sculptor Zoltán Kovács, while the "Raoul Bott" commemorative coins were designed by the industrial artist István Holló. Pál Erdős is one of the most outstanding mathematicians of the 20th century. As a child prodigy, he was already multiplying three-digit numbers at the age of 4 and independently discovered negative numbers. Already at a young age, he gained world fame for his surprisingly simple and elegant proof of Chebyshev's theorem (every number greater than one and twice its number is prime). He is one of the most recognized individuals in the research and application of combinatorics both domestically and internationally. In 1983, in the 70th year of his life, he was awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics for his many achievements in the fields of number theory, combinatorics, probability, set theory and analysis, as well as for his personal influence on mathematicians around the world. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of winning the prize, the MNB is issuing commemorative coins as the second element of the series of commemorative coins named "Wolf Prize Mathematicians of Hungarian Origin". Raoul Bott, an American mathematician of Hungarian-Austrian origin, became known mainly thanks to his achievements in various fields of geometry, several mathematical principles bear his name. In 2000, at the age of 77, he was awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics for his profound topological and differential geometry discoveries. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, the MNB is issuing commemorative coins as the third element of the "Wolf laureates of Hungarian origin" series. The primary role of the commemorative coins issued in honor of Pál Erdős and Raoul Bott is to draw attention and pay tribute to the Hungarian
