Description: The Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing commemorative coins with a face value of HUF 15,000 and a non-ferrous metal with a face value of HUF 3,000 with the name "Bács-Kiskun County, Kecskemét" on October 3, 2022, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the inauguration of the Kecskemét Town Hall, considered the "jewel of the Art Nouveau". The commemorative coins are the starting pieces of a new series of commemorative coins featuring Hungarian counties and county seats. Their front was designed by industrial artist Gábor Kereszthury, and their back was designed by industrial artist Fanni Vékon. Bács-Kiskun is the county with the largest area and the most diverse nationalities in Hungary, the center of which is Kecskemét. The "famous city" is the eighth largest settlement in our country by population and the seventh largest by administrative area. For centuries, Kecskemét has been the most important city on the Danube-Tisza river, its economic, church and school center. A charter dated 1368 already mentions it as a market town. In 1950, it became the seat of the largest Hungarian county in terms of area, and is currently the educational, cultural, administrative and industrial center of the region. The Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing commemorative coins with a face value of HUF 15,000 and a non-ferrous metal with a face value of HUF 3,000 with the name "Bács-Kiskun County, Kecskemét" on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the inauguration of the Kecskemét Town Hall, considered the "jewel of the art nouveau". The commemorative coins are the start of a new series showing the counties and county seats in Hungary. Accordingly, the obverse side of the commemorative coins represents Kecskemét, and the reverse side represents Bács-Kiskun county. The primary role of commemorative coins is to attract attention, they do not play a role in cash circulation. The silver and non-ferrous commemorative coins are the same in appearance, they differ only in the denominations on them. Source: MNB
