Ferdinand I (Ferdinánd Habsburg) was a member of the Austrian House of Habsburg and from 1556 he was also the Holy Roman Emperor. He lived from 1526 to 1564, and many coins were issued during his reign, including silver denarii. The silver denarius issued by Ferdinand I are usually 17-20 mm in diameter and weigh around 0.6-1.5 grams. The coins bear a portrait of the ruler on one side and a coat of arms, crown or mint location and date on the other.
