Jaber al-Ahmad's reign

Jaber al-Ahmad Coinage

Emir Jaber al-Ahmad Kuwait's minting between 1977 and 2006 brought significant changes to the Kuwaiti financial system. During the reign of the Emir, Kuwait gained its independence from Great Britain and began rapid economic development. This development was also reflected in the coinage, which became more and more modern and diverse. At the beginning of the Emir's reign, Kuwaiti coins still had traditional designs and their metal content was relatively low. However, in the 1980s, the minting industry underwent significant development, and the quality and safety of coins improved. The coins featured the Kuwaiti state coat of arms and the government motto, as well as the year of minting. During the reign of the Emir, many new types of coins were introduced. In 1980, the first silver coin worth 1 dinar was issued, followed by the first gold coin worth 25 dinars in 1981. And in 1986, the platinum version of the Kuwaiti dinar was also introduced. During the reign of the Emir, the Kuwaiti minting industry became internationally recognized. The quality and security of the coins are of a high standard.
