Joseph I 's life

Joseph I was the king of Hungary and Czechoslovakia as a member of the Habsburg dynasty. The events that influenced the future of the Habsburg Empire at the beginning of the 18th century took place during his reign. His father was Emperor Leopold I. Joseph received the title of Archduke of Austria when he was young. He ascended the throne in 1705 after his father's death. His reign led to the War of the Austrian Succession, which was fought between the Habsburg Empire and the Bavarian-Sarvadian coalition. Joseph I introduced many reforms in areas of his kingdom, including the economy, education and the army. However, the archduke's reforms were often contrary to the local traditions and interests of the given area, which is why he repeatedly clashed with the local elite and the population. He tried to reduce the autonomy of each province. He continuously exerted pressure to reduce tensions between different nationalities. His reign coincided with the rivalry between the Habsburg Empire and other European powers. He fought several wars to consolidate his territory, including the War of the Spanish Succession and the War of the Austrian Succession. His early death in 1711 shook the stability of the empire and the succession dispute started further conflicts.

Joseph I Coinage

Joseph I (1678-1711) was the ruler of the Habsburg Empire between 1705 and 1711. After the accession of Joseph I to the throne, the issuance of his own coins began. Coins were minted under his name and featured the ruler's effigy or coat of arms. Coins were issued in several denominations, including the thaler, the krajcár, and the garas. These coins had the portrait of the ruler and a design depicting the Habsburg coat of arms. Silver, copper and gold were also among the raw materials used during coinage.I.
