Vladislaus II 's life

Vladislaus II was born in 1456. His father was Kázmér IV, and his mother was Erzsébet Habsburg.

From 1471, he was crowned Czech king, although he had to fight for the Czech crown properly with Mátyas Hunyadi. In 1479, they concluded the Peace of Olmütz, in which they agreed that both could bear the Czech royal title. Vladislaus received the Czech Republic, while Mátyás received Silesia and Moravia.

Mátyás died in 1490. Most of the nobles wanted to see Ulászló on the Hungarian throne. With this, he also won the Hungarian crown. He died in Buda in 1516. His successor became Louis II.

Vladislaus II Coinage

Matthias's successor, II. Ulaszló (1490–1516) became his former opponent, the Czech king. Due to the orderly state of the Hungarian monetary system, no significant changes were necessary. II. During the reign of Ulászló, our Hungarian monetary history can be divided into two significant periods: the era of coins without dates and the era of coins with dates. II. Ulászló's mint continued the path of his predecessor, Mátyás, and completed the transformation begun by Mátyás with further reforms. The need to regulate the flow of money arose again II. Ulaszló in the first years of his reign. In 1492, the old ban was re-introduced that foreign money cannot be imported or accepted in the country. For the first time in Hungary II. Ulaszló beat a guilder. For the first time, this coin bore the year - 1499, although it was not a circulation coin.
