Matthias 's life

II. Hungarian King Matthias was a member of the Habsburg dynasty, who ruled Hungary between 1608 and 1619. Mátyás was born in 1557 in Vienna. His father, II. Miksa was an archduke, and his mother, Mária, was of Hungarian noble descent. His brother, II. Rudolph proposed to him the title of duke, but he refused to follow it. He wanted to come to power at all costs. He was crowned in Bratislava in 1608, and from 1612 he became King of Germany, German-Roman Emperor and the reigning Archduke of Austria under the name Matthias I. He married his niece, Archduchess Anna of Tyrol, but they had no children, so when his nephew II. died in 1619. Ferdinand was chosen as his heir.

II. Mátyás issued denars and garas. During his reign, the coat of arms depicted on the front of the coins was replaced.
